Dr Tony Atyeo

Tony has been at Gawler Veterinary Services since he graduated in 1973. First employed as an associate Veterinarian he now owns the business and employs other Vets to provide professional services to the practice clients and their pets. Tony's special interests are Dermatology and Surgery but over the many years he has developed a range of skills in most aspects of Veterinary Practice.
His commitment to ongoing professional learning for the Vets and Nurses on the team ensures the practice provides the best care and service to the patients who come under our care.

Dr Michelle Starr

Michelle started at Gawler Veterinary Services straight after graduating from the University of Melbourne in 2007. She has since developed a keen interest in Ultrasonography as a non-invasive diagnostic tool. She also has a special interest in the more ‘unusual’ pets – rabbits, ferrets, mice, rats, and guinea pigs; and native Australian mammals including kangaroos and possums. Combining good listening skills with a considerate attitude, she is sensitive to the needs of both you and your pet, and does all that she can to ensure your animals are well cared for.
She is ‘Mum’ to an elderly miniature poodle called ‘Sandy’, who isn’t all that appreciative of having a vet in the family!

Dr Duncan Borland

Duncan graduated from The University of Melbourne in 2008 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science and a Bachelor of Animal Science from studying kangaroos. Duncan has developed a considerable interest in bird medicine and companion animal surgery.
He is a notorious football fanatic with a love of the Geelong Cats in the AFL and has become a firm fixture playing for the Willaston Football Club.
He is recently married and has a family of two dogs called Merlot and Ketch, two cats called Cinta and Matilda as well as a Princess Parrot called Nikki.

Dr Andrea McKinley

Andrea is a New Zealander, growing up in Auckland where she studied Fine Arts majoring in sculpture. She moved to Australia with her boyfriend Fraser in 2000 where she studied Veterinary Science at Sydney University. After graduating (BVSc 1st Class Hons) they moved to the Barossa where Fraser persued his career as a winemaker and Andrea her career as a vet. Andrea and Fraser were married in 2009 and have settled happily at Angaston on a 5 acre property with their two sheep, nine ducks, Trevor the cat and Bunny the dog.
She joined Gawler Veterinary Services in 2008, working primarily at the Tanunda branch, with a day per week at Willaston and the occasional shift at Smithfield. Andrea is passionate about her career and enjoys challenging medicine and surgical cases.

I graduated from Murdoch University Veterinary School, Perth in 1998 with honours (Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery). I worked full time in small animal practice for several years, but now enjoy working part-time to enable me to better balance time between work and my young family. My husband David and I enjoy living in the Barossa on small acreage with our three children and a generous menagerie.

Chris started at Gawler Vet Services in June 2004. This is her first time in the animal kingdom! Chris came from a long career in Education - they say never work with animals or kids...
She says that she is really enjoying herself at G.V.S and invites you to come to the clinic and say hi!
Her hobbies include walking Molly - the Border Collie, accidently breeding lots of bantom chicks, gardening, red wine and laughing!

Angela Hay Promotions/Receptionist

Angela is the welcoming face at our Smithfield clinic. She has been working with Gawler Veterinary Services for over 10 years and has built up a strong rapport within the local Vet community. She has a passion for animal welfare and is often busy promoting and organising donations for local shelters as well as keeping pets happy at Christmas by running the popular Santa photo sittings.
Her role at the clinic is one of liason between clients, their pets and the nurses and vets - making sure everyone is happy and the clinic is running smoothly. Angela has a particular love of cats and her feline handling skills are often put to good use in difficult situations.

Connie Stanton Receptionist

Connie is the receptionist at the Willaston clinic where she performs a wide variety of tasks. She joined the team in 2008 with a background in retail and hospitality and has adapted to the position with her many talents. She loves her job and enjoys talking to clients and getting to know them.
Her animal family includes a poodle x called Nova and a Staffy x called Kosta. Her daughter has a Siamese fighting fish named Morris.
When not working Connie is busy organising her up coming wedding and spending time with family and friends.

Jenielle Burgess

Jenielle has been a vet nurse for 5 years. She moved to Adelaide from W.A. two years ago and likes it here in SA.
She is a big animal lover and has many pets. Her two horses take up most of her spare time with shows most weekends. Her two dogs come to work with her most days. She also has two playful cats and three noisy lorikeets.
Jen's position at Gawler Veterinary Services is Head Nurse, where her special interest is surgical nursing.
Her Vet nursing career gives her much enjoyment and her professional and cheerful manner makes her a valuable member of the GVS team.

Lynda Bell

Lynda is a Certificate 4 Vet nurse who has worked with Gawler Veterinary Services for many years. Most of her time is spent at the Tanunda clinic with the occasional shift at Willaston when the need arises. She works on a part time basis and enjoys the flexible working hours.She and her husband live in an old cottage on small acreage with thier dogs, cats, horses and a few fish.
Lynda reaaly loves her nursing and considers it a way of life rather than just a job.

Michelle works at the Tanunda clinic and has had a long career and lots of experience in the profession. She has recently gained her Certificate 4 nursing qualifications. She enjoys the contact she has with the animals and owners who visit the clinic. Working part time allows Michelle to spend time at home with her Rhodesian Ridgeback x dogs, her 3 cats and birds and fish which make up her menagerie. |

Yvette Gasson

Yvie has been working in the animal industry for over 12 years, vet nursing for the past 10. Her special interests include companion animal behaviour management using positive reinforcement techniques, nutrition and weight loss. Her passion lies in animal welfare and education. She is particularly good at nail trims.
Yvie has been with Gawler Veterinary Services since July 2010 and is always looking for challenges in behaviour management consults for those clients with communication issues with their pets.

Leanne is currently studying Certificate 4 Veterinary Nursing at Gilles Plains TAFE. She has been nursing for 7 years and loves her involvement with animals and communicating with people.
You will find Leanne at the Willaston Clinic where she enjoys working in the friendly and professional work place. She loves to have a laugh and to see people happy and healthy.
Hobbies include spending time with friends, family and her animals. Cruising on the back of her partners' Harley Davidson is hard to beat on a nice day.
Leanne enjoys the spiritual world and has her Reiki 1 Certificate.

Alex is a Vet nurse in training currently studying at TAFE for her Certificate 2 in Veterinary Nursing. At the present she works at the Willaston Clinic on a part time basis.
Since moving from the UK to Adelaide two years ago she has come to love the lifestyle here - especially the local wines.
Her pets include two budgies and a new puppy, 'Pippa' an Italian Greyhound. The new edition is certainly putting her owners through their paces.

Kate has been a familiar face around the Tanunda Vet Clinic for 6 years. She enjoys job sharing with 3 other of our lovely nurses at Tanunda. Two young children and a boisterous seven year old Staffy keep Kate busy away from work.
Kate's favourite part of her job is surgical nursing and meeting and chatting with our many clients. She invites you all to call in and say Hi.

Katrine is a part time Vet nurse working at our Willaston clinic on weekends and during the University holidays when her studies permit. She is currently in the third year of her Animal Science (Vet) degree at the Roseworthy campus of Adelaide Uni. Next year she commences her Veterinary Science degree. A late starter in her professional career Katrine brings a new sense of enthusiasm into the profession and is a valuable member of our nursing team. |

Amy is completing a school based traineeship in Veterinary nursing, working part time in the clinic, attending TAFE at Gilles Plains to complete her level 4 Vet nursing certificate and completing her high school commitments at Urbrae High School. Her enthusiasm and dedication to her patients makes her an important member of the nursing team. |
